From the history books: a train tour across Canada. Passengers inside the train cars include Buddy Guy, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, the Band and more. The train takes an emergency stop in Saskatoon to the liquor store. It's a fun watch if just for the music and outfits.

In this scene, Jerry turns to Janis and says "I've loved you since the day I met you". Not sure if the lady beside him knows how fashion forward her outfit is...too bad her headband wasn't beaded, that would have been luxurious.

Janis says, "How's it going Daddy"...to Rick Danko of the band. Darling.

I am always getting digs for being the eco-friendly (can also be translated as terrified) NON DRIVER of the family. My daughter and I take transit everywhere. That, or walk, since we managed to situate ourselves in a perfect little urban oasis. School, groceries, produce and other amenities are a five minute step away.

I have a carport that is rarely used, guests only. I think I found the perfect solution for the unused space. How about this baby:

I've always been attracted to Airstream trailers, clearly I am not alone in this. Nor is it particularly unique to want to use these darling throw backs as an office, studio or guest home. I think my favorite alteration thus far has to be "Hey, Cupcake" of Austin, Texas.

We just returned from living on Cassidy time for 2 days: eating fresh peas and greens, hiking to rocky river beds, watching humming birds. It was lovely to take a moment to slow down and enjoy the things that truly matter: good friends, family, nature. I do enjoy what I have. I don't take things for granted, but I don't always take the time to fully appreciate them. So...with my cup of coffee in hand I will step out to the patio to enjoy the morning sun and water my garden. I will be thankful that my vegetables are growing...despite that they were all planted late. I am still hopeful for a fall harvest.

In The Sweet Bye & Bye by Margaret Kilgallen arrived on my doorstep this morning. It's a happy day. I searched high and low for this and finally accepted the fact that I had resort to ebay. Margaret is pretty much my favorite artist so it was worth it.

Last week I took a jaunt to "Old Faithful". It's a new shop in Gastown (320 West Cordova) that sells gorgeous items for the home (see "Served With Coffee" for link to their blog). I wanted to pick up a second air plant to complement one I brought home from a recent trip to San Francisco. I also purchased 2 metal numbers. There were so many wonderous things that if budget had allowed I could have gone a little off the deep end. I had a great chat with Walter about gardening. I am looking forward to visiting again soon.

Retro Bar Cart

This is a fun bright little spot in my home, perfect for entertaining.

I found this table at a thrift store. With a little bit of paint it looks quite lovely. My home is all about greens, yellows, and oranges. I stuck with the retro theme: vintage juice glasses and a picnic basket for games (if you peek inside you will find a set of cards and an old Yatzee game, just like the one my grandparents had).

I also placed three photographs from a recent trip to San Francisco against the wall - Andy Warhol (SFMOMA); Barry McGee (SFMOMA); and Jack Kerouac (the Beat Museum).

With all these lovely photos circulating the blogsphere; it would be fair to say that I have a health obsession with flowers and plants. (If I have borrowed a photo from your blog it is out of love and admiration).

My home has sprung with greenery both inside and out. Mason jars, recycled mini champagne bottles, and thrift store pottery are blooming in every corner.

The Sweetest Pea

I made the mistake of learning to quilt when my bff had her first child. At each new arrival I tried something new. Her son has a tiny quilt with bright colours and appliqué animals. Daughter number one has a simple quilt in light greens, with purple and yellow accents. This is the "sweet dreams" blanket, as it's appliquéd into the edge. I have been told that even at 6 years old the little darling still cozies up to this blanket every night. At the birth of daughter number two...I was instructed that I "HAD" to make the new baby a quilt, just like the rest. Two years later the little doll is still waiting. I have finally found the time.

I am three days into the project. There is grass to stitch and layers to attach and tonight I will tackle embroidering "sweet pea" onto the inside.
